Your Boudoir Photo Session – FAQ’s

In His Shirt

Below are some common questions we get when customers inquire about doing a boudoir photo session.  We hope you find answers to your questions here, but if not, you can contact us with your questions!

Where do we shoot my boudoir photo session?

It depends! We are fully portable with our lighting and photography equipment.  This means we can shoot your boudoir session in your home, a hotel room, or on a beach or in a park.  We’re flexible that way!

So, think about where you want your boudoir photo session to be, and then talk to us!

What do I wear that makes it a “boudoir” photo session?

Traditional “boudoir” is silky robes and lacy underwear, but just about anything a woman feels sexy in can lend itself to a great photo session.  A white button-down shirt, a t-shirt, or just a long string of pearls will work.  It’s really not about the clothing, but about the woman.

What do I do to prepare for the shoot?

If you are going to a salon, we suggest going several days before your shoot. This will allow your new hair style to “settle down”, if needed. You are welcome to bring your stylist to the shoot for any “touch up” you may want done during the shoot.

Is nudity allowed?

Boudoir photography is really about the woman and what makes her feel beautiful and sexy.  While nudity or partial nudity can be part of a boudoir photo session’s theme, it is not something

everyone feels comfortable with.  It’s up to you.

If you decide you want to pose nude, wear loose clothing and no underwear as you come to the shoot. Whether we are meeting you at your home or some other location, shed the underwear an hour or so before the appointment and wear a robe or loose-fitting clothing. This allows time for any lines underwear makes in your skin to fade away.

Do I have to be a certain age?

While we certainly do regular portraits of anyone, we will not do boudoir photography, even if there is no nudity, with clients under 18 years of age.

What do I do to prepare for my photo session?

Relax, find your beautiful space, and enjoy the anticipation! It’s normal to be a little nervous if you’ve never done a boudoir photo session before and maybe even if you have.

Can I bring a friend?

Of course! You can bring a friend or a family member who is supportive and encouraging.

Will my photos be published?

We love your finished boudoir photos as much as you do.  Sometimes we might want to use a photo on our website or in other places to advertise, or in print, or just to display. However, we will never publish or display any of your photos unless we ask you and you give us written permission to publish it.  Most of our customers prefer their privacy, and we honor that. So, in one sentence, your private photos will remain private.

In addition, our clients’ safety and comfort are of utmost importance to us. We are professionals who are providing photography services for our clients. We respect their desire to create beautiful photographs in a safe, comfortable environment.

What won’t be done in a boudoir shoot?

We do not shoot images that are sexually explicit or depict any sort of sexual activity.

How will I get my finished photos?

There are three steps to the process:

  1.   We provide you “proofs” with a private link to their secure location via an email from this web site.

These proofs include the best images from your photo session. You review these and pick the ones you like best, up to the total number of photos that your package includes. You may not post, print, edit or share these “proofs”.

  2. We take the images you’ve selected and we “finish” the photos, so they are ready for your approval.

  3. Once you approve the final images, we send you the photos in the products that you ordered.

Can I get digital images so I can order my own prints or other products?

Yes. High quality digital files are included, as well as a release form that allows you to use the image files. You may order prints, photo books, coffee mugs or even have the images printed on a cake if you want (yes, it’s been done!). The only restriction is that you may not edit the images in any way. If you want the images altered in any way, including cropping, send us the request and we can probably fulfill your request quickly.
